About Me

Aloha! I’m Kaitlin, the artist, designer and depending on the day I sometimes even like to call myself a front-end developer. I was born and raised in upcountry Maui, studied in Los Angeles, CA and now am based out of Honolulu, HI.

My artwork is heavily inspired by Tomie Depaola, Hayao Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli, the show Adventure Time, David Cho and the Hawaii life style (this is why all the characters I draw surf). My style is often described as chuckle worthy, colorful, and balanced.

I’m an “Ambi” for ambidextrous because I can write and draw with both hands and because the second definition of the word is “unusually skillful; facile:” – alluding to my interest in right and left brain activities such as illustration, crafting and fine art and graphic design, front-end development and user experience and interfaces as a science. I’ve been told that color and code is a peculiar combination of interests and rolled with it.

My long term goal is to one day teach Honolulu-based design courses ranging from illustration to graphic design to user experience or interface design. While I enjoyed traveling to the mainland for exposure and experience, I believe that it’s important to now give those things back to the local community.
