Joshua Tree 2017

i. Getting There

Our journey started at Enterprise on La Cienega and Alcott in Hollywood. The shop is manned by one very friendly individual who handles the paperwork and a few others who help you choose your car. We got upgraded for free since they didn't have an economy car in the lot when we showed up. Once we got the car we headed to a nearby Vons to stock up on some road snacks, water and food.

ii. The Campground

The ranger station at the Black Rock Campground is run by the cutest elderly couple. They spend their mornings placing name cards on the campsites so visitors know which site is theirs.

We brought one tent, two sleeping bags and a bunch of layers. We were only staying one night. How bad could it be, right?

iii. Hidden Valley Trail

We thought we would try to get a quick hike in over at the national park before we got settled in at the campsite.

Hidden Valley Trail, known for its huge ass rocks, desert shrubs and Joshua Trees, was a perfect hike to get the general feeling of the desert.

We booked it through this short trail hoping that we could make it back to Black Rock to do a second hike called Panorama Loop, a ridgeline hike that leads to a 360 view of the surrounding desert. We thought the sunset would make for some good pics!
